Janice Paris, formerly Janice Tatman, comes from south-central Ohio, near a small town called Laurelville. She graduated from Logan Elm High School in 1998, where her band director was a former Nelsonville-York director, James Chickrell. After high school, Miss Tatman left her home to attend college at Ohio University for Music Education.
During her time in college, Miss Tatman participated in various ensembles, including the symphonic band, jazz band, trombone choir, and 5 years in the Marching 110. In June of 2003, Miss Tatman graduated from Ohio University with a Bachelor’s Degree, and soon after, married Shadrick Paris (whom she had met in the Marching 110).
Now, Mrs. Paris resides in Nelsonville, Ohio with her husband and her two precious daughters, Lily and Chloe. She greatly enjoys teaching music for the Nelsonville-York City School District, and still likes to play her trombone at the annual O.U. Homecoming Day, and in the University and Summer Bands.
