Welding Technology

Program Description:

Welding Technology is a two-year program that allows hands-on training for the skills you need in this high demand career field.  This program provides students the opportunity to be trained in (3) major welding fields: ARC, MIG, and TIG by combining hands-on lab work with classroom training. The students in this program learn structural and pipe welding.

  • Oxyfuel cutting
  • Base metal preparation
  • MIG Welding
  • TIG Welding
  • Stick Welding
  • Flux Core Welding 
  • Fabrication
  • OSHA
  • Structual welding 

Professional Certifications and Industry Credentials:

Students may have the opportunity for:

  • D1.1 3/8" AWS Structural Steel Certifications

In addition, successful students will earn the following certifcations:

  • OHSA-10 Certification
  • ACT National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC) 

Career Opportunities:

Welders are in big demand in a number of fields including manufacturing, oil & gas, transportation, and heavy equipment. Welding occupations include fabricators, pipe welders, bridge welders, and strucural welders.

Wages vary, but the average hourly wage is $12 to $17 starting out.
